Loved every part of this experience at Cara Cara !!!I was there for new year special night and there drinks are amazing delicious and there 5 course meals are available in there course also the service was excellent and we can't complain about that view downtown Los Angeles it's to die for it's a perfect place for a date or just with your friends!

this place is so cute!! great view of dtla. staff was extremely nice and attentive. came here to celebrate my bday and the staff made me feel special for sure. it's located on the rooftop of a hotel and the staff in the hotel were also rlly helpful and nice, even let me pop in the tea room for a quick experience! ordered: - cara cara cobb salad: 10/10, HUGE and SO GOOD!!! such a variety of veggies, a true salad - piri piri fried chicken: 8/10, flavors were there but wish we had more for the price - bday cake: 10/10, was pleasantly surprised at HOW GOOD it was!

Food (3/5): Pretty limited menu that has some diversity but the portion sizes are so disappointing. Dishes average over $25, including the starters! We had the seafood ceviche and while it did taste good with the concoction of octopus, shrimp, and scallop, you're guaranteed to be hungry after. The size I would say was as big as my palm. I had the Cara Cara Cobb and as someone who typically doesn't get salad, I was pleasantly surprised by the taste. The portions did make me feel appropriately full, but it was thanks to the added applewood bacon that gave the salad its desperately needed protein. I found it ridiculous to add protein the additional cost was $16-$20.... A $40 salad.... Really? Price (3/5): Over priced for the small quantity. Ambiance (5/5): Breathtaking views of LA. Such a great place if you want to impress someone. Very intimate and romantic place. Service (5/5): Wait staff were knowledgeable of their menu and made sure to clear plates in a timely manner. They were also very friendly and gave off a very warm aura.

Beautiful rooftop restaurant with a great view of the city. Had a romantic Christmas dinner here before seeing babygirl starring Nicole Kidman with my unsuspecting husband Started with the night in tulum drink and the cheese and fig board which contained a lot of other delicious extras. Piri piri chicken was tender, fried strips unlike the traditional portuguese piri piri. Chorizo and clams were delicious and plentiful. So brothy with warm and crisp pieces of bread. The Brussels sprouts though had me moaning like I was babygirl herself. delicious, crispy fried Brussel shreds that I will be thinking about for a while

Cara Cara is a great spot for dinner dates (the view!) but I could also see this being a good spot in the afternoon with a group of girls! Food: 4/5 The Braised Wagyu Brisket Tacos are by far the best of what we got. I am still thinking about them. The beef melts in your mouth!! And it's such a good combo of flavors that complement each other. The Burrata + Cipollini Onion was soso for us. The greens on top were a tad bitter, and I could see the attempt but it ended up contrasting a little too strongly with how sweet and buttery the bread and onions were. Would've been better without such a bitter bite of veg on top! We also got some marinated olives and these were great! Hard to go wrong with this though. Ambiance: 5/5 People are not kidding when they say this is the best view from a rooftop restaurant in Downtown. It's so nice, look one way and you've got a flatter skyline going off into the hills in the distance. Look the other way and it's the skyscrapers of the city. It was cold out, but hard to feel it because of the abundance of heaters on site. Seats were comfortable. Nothing bad here! Drinks: 5/5 I got the Purple Paradise & my partner the Nectar of the Gods. Both were yummy! I think I preferred my partner's drink though, it was a little smoother. The Purple Paradise is very tart. Not a bad thing, just a bit of a mismatch with my food choices! But it was still good. Service: 3/5 Our server was quite nice! He didn't make us feel out of place or anything like that, and I say this because the same cannot be said of the valet man who first assisted us downstairs, nor of the hostess at the downstairs first floor restaurant either. I needed to use the restroom very urgently upon arrival and they both treated me as though I wasn't a paying customer and spoke to me rudely. They were both condescending and left my partner to the wayside to be ignored until I returned. The valet guy in particular was exceedingly rude, even making fun of me for how I addressed him (in my haste to get to the restroom, I told him he should talk to my partner if he was going to keep dismissing me). Later on another person assisted me instead (head of security) and the difference was night and day. He was fantastic! So my points in the rating here are definitely for him, our server, and the hostess of the rooftop restaurant. But the valet guy? Absolutely horrid. As well as the hostess downstairs, she really was trying to posture herself as above us - which is just absurd. We're all people. All in all I'd give Cara Cara a 4 out of 5. Would like to try it again sometime with friends, I wonder if the valet will still treat me as though I'm too poor to be there next time too though.

First of all the view from the restaurant is amazing you see all of downtown LA. Service is fast and efficient I got the chipotle cauliflower tacos since I'm a vegetarian. The chipotle the cauliflower is coated in is super flavorful and comes with some cilantro and queso and peanuts. Comes with a side of homemade salsa as well as pickled carrots, cauliflower and jalapeños. Even if you aren't a vegetarian I highly recommend this dish Looking forward to trying more at Cara Cara!

Been here a couple times and finally getting around to a review. Apologies for the delay. Cara Cara is such a wonderful little rooftop restaurant with great views of Los Angeles. Perfect for a couple photo ops should you desire We started with drinks, and the drinks are generally on point. I had the Liquid Gold, which I feel used to be better, with a more passion fruit forward flavor, but it was still good. For food, we began with mini lobster rolls, which actually had a nice amount of lobster meat, more then I expected. The seafood ceviche was really good, with chunks of scallops. As far as the entrees are concerned, they had a special Black and Blue burger, with blue cheese, that was tasty but could have used more blue cheese so you get that flavor with each bite. The wagyu tacos were ok, I was expecting something more to give it some pop so it stuck out, but that didn't happen. The hangar steak was cooked well and the seasoning on the outside wasn't bad. And the Piri Piri Fried chicken was really juicy on the inside with a nice crunch on the outside. I mean, hopefully that's the expectation with fried chicken, so it did its job. Overall, come for the views, come for the ambiance, come for the drinks, and definitely try a few food items but you can skip the wagyu tacos

This was my second visit in less than 2 months. My last visit was on a Sunday early evening when they have their DJ spin tunes to complement the sophisticated atmosphere. This added nicely to the experience IMHO. My impressions on venue, service, food and drinks remain the same as my last review. They rock! Thank you Cara Cara.

If you're looking for a stunning view of downtown LA, look no further. It's at Cara Cara atop the Proper Hotel DTLA. A friend got a reservation for 8 people around dinner time. We arrived in the hotel lobby and was helped up the elevator by the staff to get to the restaurant. We were seated with a few of a sunset encapsulating DTLA. Would highly recommend this place as a date spot, if I'm being honest.) As for the food, it's a little pricey for the amount of food being served. They are definitely tapa sized and (barely) enough for sharing even though it was told to us it would be very much shareable. If you're with good company and drinking, this is probably something you could overlook.
